‘How do I raise a bottle baby?’

Many of our customers love having our Udderly EZ hand milker in their calving kits just in case they end up needing to raise a bottle baby.

If the cow dies or rejects the calf, or in the case of some dairy cattle, you might be left with a calf who needs a little help getting that first colostrum in.

But what goes into hand-raising a calf, exactly?

We came across this fantastic blog from Pam Stahl of Learning to Be Me, guest blogging for The Prairie Homestead, on her five basic guidelines for a successfully-raised bottle baby. Among them–how to prepare, keeping the baby company, and learning not to get too attached.
